<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily provide appropriate printing quality, in the case of adjusting a printing pressure in test printing processing of a printing state. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Regarding the head pressure balance checking method of checking a pressurized state between a thermal head and a platen roller before test printing in a thermal printer where printing is performed by sandwiching a printing medium between the thermal head and the platen roller facing the thermal head and conveying the printing medium, in the state where the thermal head is kept so as not to be driven (A), a confirmation sheet whose color developing state varies in accordance with the level of the applied pressure is conveyed to pass through a gap between the thermal head and the platen roller (B), then, the pressurized state is checked based on the color developing state of the confirmation sheet which has been conveyed to pass through the gap (C).
