In case no failure of a sensor for detecting an angle of rotation of an electric motor (66) that drives a manual valve (56) is detected, the electric motor (66) is controlled based on the angle of rotation (?m) thereof detected by the sensor such that a manual valve (56) moves to a position that corresponds to a shift position (SP) of the shift lever. In case a failure of the sensor for detecting rotational angle of the motor isdetected, the electric motor (66) is controlled by a forced current based on a change within a unit time of a shaft position (POS) including the direction of rotation of a manual shaft (60) detected by a shaft position sensor such that the manual valve (56) moves to a position that corresponds to a shift position (SP) of the shift lever.
