An arrangement particularly suitable for selectively positioning the rotor of a tide flow turbine 3 either above the water for maintenance or below the water for operation, and for aligning the rotor with the tide flow direction has the turbine 3 supported by a pair of support structures 2A, 2B that are mounted to an elongate column support 1. The structures can be moved both along the column and rotated around the column and can be selectively locked 13 against the column to prevent any sort of movement. By alternately locking one of the supports to the column and activating the hydraulic actuators 33 to move or rotate the other support with respect to the column the turbine can be positioned on the column. The supports can then be locked into position on the column to position the turbine.
