Disclosed is the use of 2-[4-[2-(benzimidazole-2-ylthio)ethyl]piperazin-1-yl]-N-[2,4-bis(methylthio)-6-methyl-3-pyridyl]acetamide or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or a hydrate thereof, and an effective amount of a second compound comprising Pitavastatin, in the manufacture of a medicament suitable for administration to a mammalian subject for the reduction, stabilization and/or prevention of rupture of a lipid rich plaque in an atherosclerotic lesion. Also disclosed is a pharmaceutical composition comprising (1) an effective amount of 2-[4-[2-(benzimidazole-2-ylthio)ethyl]piperazin-1-yl]-N-[2,4-bis(methylthio)-6-methyl-3-pyridyl]acetamide or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or a hydrate thereof, and (2) an effective amount of a second compound comprising Pitavastatin, and (3) a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
