The mechanism has a manual control unit with a control lever (4) rotationally mounted in a sheet part (1c) of a sliding door (PC) around an axis (b-b) making an angle (alpha) with a rotational axis (a-a). The lever is made of plastic material with low friction coefficient. The lever has an activation handle (5) for activating a coupling finger engaged with the clearance in a rectangular shaped cavity. The finger has an external shape induced in the cavity close to walls of the cavity so as to press the finger on the walls for all angular positions of the cavity and the handle in one direction. The rectangular shaped cavity presents a parallelepiped shape in the section with respect to the rotational axis.
