PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coin identification device that reduces cost by reducing the number of components while reducing the entire size of the device. SOLUTION: A coin identification device arranged in the neighborhood of a coin passage (1) through which an input coin (C) passes, and configured to identify the coin passing through the coin passage is provided with: an annular exciting coil 11 for generating a magnetic field in the coil passage; a first detection coil 13 and a second detection coil 14 arranged inside the annular exciting coil 11, and configured to detect magnetic field change when the coin passes through the coin passage; a material thickness detection part 313 for detecting the thickness of the coin from the sum of signals corresponding to the magnetic field change detected by the first detection coil 13 and the second detection coil 14; a material detection part 312 for detecting the materials of the coin from the signal corresponding to the magnetic field change detected by the first detection coil 13; and an irregularity detection part 314 for detecting irregularity of the coin from the difference of the signals corresponding to the magnetic field change detected by the first detection coil 13 and the second detection coil 14.
