<p>A brake device for an in-wheel motor, capable of being easily mounted within a wheel. A vehicle wheel (5) is driven by an in-wheel motor (1) mounted within a disc wheel (51). The in-wheel motor (1) reduces the rotation of a rotor (13) by a planetary gear (14) and transmits the reduced rotation to the wheel (5). When a brake motor (184) is rotated, a brake device (18) causes plungers (183) to move in the axial direction. By this, a disc (181) rotating together with the rotor (13) is clamped by a first pad (187) and a second pad (188) and a braking force is caused to act between the rotor (13) and the planetary gear (14). The brake device (18) does not require a hydraulic pressure source, a hydraulic cylinder, and hydraulic piping, is small-sized, and can be easily mounted within the disc wheel (51).</p> |
