PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct a phase difference when switching a using encoder sensor. SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus has a traveling body mounted with a recording head, a first traveling body position detecting means for outputting a pulse corresponding to position information by detecting the position information on the traveling body, and a second traveling body position detecting means for assisting the first traveling body position detecting means, and moves the traveling body based on the output pulse, and controls a printing position of the recording head, and has a phase difference calculating means for calculating the phase difference of the output pulse of the first traveling body position detecting means and the second traveling body position detecting means, and a traveling body detecting position correcting means for synchronizing the output pulse of the first traveling body position detecting means and the second traveling body position detecting means based on the phase difference calculated by the phase difference calculating means in an undetectable area being unable to detect the position information by the first traveling body position detecting means.
