A navigation device displaying traffic information

A navigation device is disclosed. The device displays a route superimposed on a road map, together with one or more symbols each indicating a location for which audio or visual traffic information exists. Each symbol is selectable to play back the audio or visual information. If audio or visual traffic information for a location is played back on the device, the device shows a menu option that enables a user to include or exclude that location from a route.
