<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of accurately adjusting the height and inclination of a manhole cover in a short time. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A horizontal ring 4 is formed into an aggregate of thin sheets. Part of the aggregate is exfoliated and removed at the position where a necessary thickness is obtained, by which a predetermined horizontal ring 4 is obtained. Thus, adjustment for obtaining the intended height can be quickly and accurately performed with the horizontal ring 4 of the single aggregate. Further, by clearly specifying a way of combining inclination adjusting rings 2, 3, the amount of the inclination adjusting rings 2, 3 contributing to the height adjustment is calculated, so that the necessary thickness of the horizontal ring 4 can be accurately and easily determined.
