PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the axial dimensions of a forward/backward travel switching mechanism 4 as small as possible in a driving device 2 for vehicles provided with the forward/backward travel switching mechanism 4. SOLUTION: The forward/backward travel switching mechanism 4 includes a planetary gear mechanism 10, a forward clutch 20, a reverse brake 30, an actuator 40 for the forward clutch 20, and an actuator 50 for the reverse brake 30. Elements (41, 42, 51, 52, etc.), which constitute the actuator 40 for the clutch and the actuator 50 for the brake, are arranged in an integrated state at one side in the axial direction of the forward clutch 20 and the reverse brake 30 arranged side by side in the axial direction.
