PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine, performing intake air volume control in consideration of ignition timing control and improving the control responsiveness of control for matching an engine output torque to a target output torque. SOLUTION: An estimated delay correction amount STIGRTD of ignition timing is calculated using an intermediate target intake air volume GAIROBJMID as a temporary target intake air volume, an estimated output torque TRQTMP is calculated in consideration of torque down due to the delay correction of the ignition timing, and the intermediate target intake air volume GAIROBJMID is updated so that the estimated output torque TRQTMP approaches the target torque TRQCGj. The target intake air volume GAIROJB is set to the intermediate target intake air volume GAIROBJMID when the estimated output torque TRQTMP is converged to the target torque TRQCGj.
