PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a commodity display label with good design and a method for manufacturing the label. SOLUTION: On the label 1, linear slits 5 are arranged around a plurality of characters 4 printed in black on the surface of a white label body 2 so that the longitudinal direction ends of the adjacent slits are brought close to each other. When the label 1 is stuck to a commodity, a color of a part covered with the label 1 of the commodity is visually recognized through the respective slits 5, and one design is formed by a combination of the respective slits 5 and the respective characters 4, so that design is improved in comparison with a conventional one. In the method for manufacturing the label, the label 1 is stuck to a releasing sheet S with an adhesive 3 and the slits 5 are formed by burning out the label 1 with the releasing sheet S by laser beams, and consequently, a fine design is formed with precision on the label 1 without generating waste paper.
