PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing oxide scale in a copper alloy material, in the case a dense oxide film is formed on the surface of a copper alloy material as oxide scale, which can inexpensively and easily remove the oxide scale. SOLUTION: As a chemical selectively removing an oxide film formed as oxide scale on the surface of a copper alloy material (such as the bar stock or sheet material of a Cu-Ti copper alloy comprising 1 to 5 mass% Ti) and hardly corroding the copper alloy material, a chemical comprising a chelate reagent and hydrogen peroxide or a chemical comprising a chelate reagent, hydrogen peroxide and alkali is used to remove the oxide scale.
