<p>A DNS name resolving system which allows not only fixed name information, but additional information which may dynamically change, to be used as DNS name information. The DNS name resolving system comprises a DNS server; a terminal which generates and transmits a DNS query packet, including DNS name information described in a predetermined format, addressed to the DNS server; and an override agent provided on the communication path between the terminal and DNS server. Further, the override agent comprises a capture unit which captures the DNS query packet transmitted from the terminal; an analysis unit which stores, in advance, information in the predetermined format by which terminals describe the DNS name information, analyzes the DNS name information included in the DNS query packet captured at the capture unit according to the predetermined description format, and selects the reply information to be sent back to the terminal based on the analysis results; and a reply unit which generates and transmits a DNS response packet, including the reply information selected at the analysis unit, addressed to the terminal.</p> |
