<p>A thumbnail generation device provided with a moving image extraction unit, a resizing percentage calculation unit, and a resizing unit. Based on the number and area of face detection regions acquired from face detection information generated by detecting the face of a person in a moving image, the moving image extraction unit extracts, from that moving image, a moving image of a length of time shorter than the play time of the moving image. Based on the face detection information in the moving image that was extracted by the moving image extraction unit, the resizing percentage calculation unit integrates the face detection regions for every predetermined interval of time. Then, based on the integration result, the resizing percentage calculation unit calculates the resizing percentage of the moving image extracted by the moving image extraction unit so that the face of the person in the moving image extracted by the moving image extraction unit will be displayed in a large manner. The resizing unit, based on the resizing percentage calculated by the resizing percentage calculation unit, generates a moving image thumbnail which is a shrunken or enlarged version of the moving image extracted by the moving image extraction unit.</p> |
