<p>An upwind type wind wheel provided with blades rotatable about a substantially horizontal rotation axis, a pitch angle changing mechanism for changing the pitch angle of each of the blades, a tilting mechanism for changing the coning angle of each of the blades, and a controlling device for stopping the rotation of the blades and driving the tilting mechanism to set each of the blades to a sheltered attitude in which the blade is tilted leeward. The controlling device drives the pitch angle changing mechanism to perform control for adjusting the pitch angle of each of the blades so that the angle of attack of the blade in the sheltered attitude is an angle most suitable to make a load acting on the blade minimum.</p> |
