<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new bold process method with no difference from a bold process result using bit map character patterns. <P>SOLUTION: An intermediate character pattern generating part 120 generates an intermediate character pattern integrating elements defining a start point and an end point of each element in an X direction comprising a character in a two-dimensional coordinate system of a character. An intermediate character pattern modification part 130 applies bold processes in the X direction and a Y direction with respect to each element comprising the intermediate character pattern generated by the intermediate character pattern generating part 120.
