PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice cooker which can cook rice as deliciously as possible while requiring not so much labor by a user, spending a smaller amount of total power consumption than that in a standard cooking menu, and shortening time for cooking. SOLUTION: The rice cooker includes a menu selection section offering a plurality of cooking menu options including a standard cooking menu and an energy-saving cooking menu which spends a smaller amount of power consumption than that in the standard cooking menu, out of which a user can choose one. When the energy-saving cooking menu is chosen, the pot heating operation is controlled so that during a boil keeping process after the water is heated to a boil, it can apply less heating power for a prescribed period of time at the start of the process.
