PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a rush current when power is turned on. SOLUTION: A power controller includes: a thermistor 24 which detects the temperature of a fixing heater 23 whose resistance property to temperature is positive; a machine internal temperature detection circuit 27 which detects outside temperature; a current detection circuit 26 which detects the current flowing in the fixing heater 23; CPU 19 which determines the voltage applied to the fixing heater 23 based on at least one detection value out of the fixing heater temperature detected by the thermistor 24, the outside temperature detected by the machine internal temperature detection circuit 27, and the fixing heater current detected by the current detection circuit 26; and a triac 14 which controls power supply to the fixing heater 23 based on the directions from the CPU 19. The triac 14 suppresses the rush current when power is turned on based on the supplied voltage determined by the CPU 19. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
