PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the resistances of suction and exhaust, loss of output by driving, and amounts of exhaustion of harmful exhaust constituents such as NOx, CO2, SOX, HC, and PM which are the defects of a mushroom (umbrella)shaped valve used in an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: The valve 23 is formed in a round bar-shape having any taper. A tapered intake and exhaust gas passages which are formed at right angle to the moving direction of a piston 19 are moved and slid in the axial direction to open and close an inlet and an outlet 7, respectively.
