<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for promoting collagen production by which the production of collagen, in particular, the production of collagen in human dermis can be promoted, and to provide a method of promoting collagen production. Ž<P>SOLUTION: There are disclosed: a composition for promoting collagen production which contains as the active ingredient a purine-type nucleic acid-related substance; a composition for promoting collagen production which contains a purine-type nucleic acid-related substance and a pyrimidine-type nucleic acid-related substance; and a method of promoting collagen production characterized by comprising applying a purine-type nucleic acid-related substance, or a combination of a purine-type nucleic acid-related substance with a pyrimidine-type nucleic acid-related substance to the skin.
