In order to simplify the production process of a knitting machine (60), in particular a crochet galloon machine, for producing a strip (28), it is proposed to assign a post-processing apparatus (80) to the strip withdrawal (70). The post-processing apparatus (80) comprises tensioning means for tensioning the strip (28) in the longitudinal direction and in the transverse direction, and thermofixing means (32) for thermofixing the strip (28) in the tensioning state. Because of the tensioning means, the strip can be retained in a tensed state controlled both in the longitudinal direction and in the transverse direction.
