PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new glycidyl group-containing 9-anthrol compound useful as a monomer for a flame-retardant and heat-resistant epoxy resin. SOLUTION: The glycidyl group-containing 9-anthrol compound is represented by general formula (1) (wherein n is an integer of≥1 and≤10; R is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl; and X and Y are each any of hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, aryloxy, arylthio, carboxy and sulfonic acid).
