PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PVA-based composite fiber having excellent dynamic physical properties, especially tensile strength, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The high-strength composite fiber is obtained by using a polyvinyl alcohol solution in which single-layer carbon nanotubes having a graphene sheet having considerably reduced structure defects are dispersed in a nanometer level as a spinning solution, extruding the spinning solution through a nozzle to a cooling phase to give a gel fiber, after desolvation and highly orienting the PVA and SWNT (single wall carbon nanotube) by drawing.
