<p>Provided is an azo compound for a black ink, which is very soluble in a vehicle wherein the primary component is water, remains stable with long-term storage of a highly concentrated aqueous solution and ink, has excellent recorded image fastness, particularly light resistance and ozone gas resistance, and is achromatic and imparts a high-quality black recorded image. Also provided is an ink composition containing the compound. The compound is an azo compound represented by formula (1) (1) a tautomer of the same, or a salt thereof. In formula (1), n is 1, and the like; R1 is a C1-C4 alkyl group, and the like; R2 is a cyano group, and the like; R3 and R4 are each independently a hydrogen atom, sulfo group, and the like; R5 through R7 are each independently hydrogen atoms, sulfo C1-C4 alkyl groups, C1-C4 alkyl groups, and the like; R8 is a sulfo group, and the like; R9 is a hydrogen atom, and the like; R10 is a C1-C4 alkylcarbonyl group, and the like; and R11 is a hydrogen atom, and the like.</p> |
