The device has a sensor-supported navigation system comprising a sensor for detecting horizontal guidelines (B1-B3) and vertical guidelines (L1-L3) of a guideline system. The guideline system is stored in a digital map of the device, and line code data comprises information of accurate positions in the digital map, where position of a vehicle is corrected during detection of the guideline system or line code data by the sensor. A satellite-assisted navigation system i.e. global positioning system (GPS) system, is supplemented by the sensor-supported navigation system. The sensor is designed as a charge coupled device (CCD) sensor.
