The torque converter has a turbine wheel driven by a pump wheel. A guide wheel (1) is firmly supported by a freewheel and provided with a shovel (2) that is distributed over an extent, where the shovel is radially slotted. Expansion of a slot (3) is carried out along defined radial length (l) of the shovel, where width of the slot is variable along thickness (d) of the shovel. The guide wheel consists of two component parts. The width of the slot is adjustable as a function of an operating point of the torque converter.
