The burner has a riser tube (1) closed by a cover (3) that rests on an upper edge. The cover is radially fixed and moved upward in axial direction, where a center axis of the cover corresponds with a center axis of the riser tube independent of an axial position. A distributor disk (5) is provided on a side of the cover, and deflects fuel material in flow direction for obtaining fuel discharge with uniform radial distribution. A carbonization zone lies directly below an edge of the cover.
