<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fingerprint detection method capable of acquiring a fluorescent cyanoacrylate fingerprint, without bringing a subject into contact with a liquid, and capable of promoting enhancement of detection precision and facilitation of detection. <P>SOLUTION: The fingerprint detection method includes a heating step for heating a mixture of a cyanoacrylate polymer and a fluorescent pigment, or a cyanoacrylate polymer polymerized using the fluorescent pigment as a polymerization initiator, to generate a gas mixture of the cyanoacrylate polymer and the fluorescent pigment, an exposure step for exposing the subject in a gas mixture atmosphere, an ultraviolet ray application step for applying an ultraviolet ray onto a surface of the subject deposited with the cyanoacrylate polymer and the fluorescent pigment, and a photographing step for exciting, with a blue ray, the fluorescent pigment on the surface of the subject irradiated with the ultraviolet ray, and for photographing the fluorescent fingerprint image emitted from the fluorescent pigment.
