IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an operational burden on a user when performing preview display of an image read from an original, and to efficiently perform page updating or the like by shortening the time until the preview display.

SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus 1 includes: an image reading unit 2 for reading an image of an original to produce image data 21; a preview image creation unit 12 for producing a preview image 22 from the image data 21 produced by the image reading unit 2; a display unit 5 for displaying at least part of the preview image 22; an operation input unit 6 for receiving operation input from a user; a display region decision unit 13 for determining a portion designated through the operation input unit 6 as a display target region R in the preview image 22; and a display control unit 14 for extracting an image corresponding to the display target region R from the preview image 22 and causing the display unit 5 to display the extracted image.
