<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a color deviation and an image distortion without using different sensors and different control means for speed control and meandering control of an endless belt. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An endless belt drive control device includes: a mark detection means 19 for reading marks and providing output signals, the marks being arranged in a sequence on the endless belt stretched over a plurality of rollers and each have a predetermined length in a travel direction of the endless belt; a speed control means 200 for controlling the travel speed of the endless belt based on the output signals from the mark detection means; and a meandering control means 300 for controlling the meandering of the endless belt based on the output signals from the mark detection means. Each mark has at least one side perpendicular to the travel direction of the endless belt. The output signals are changed in the rectangular direction relative to the travel direction of the endless belt depending on the relative position to the endless belt of the mark detection means.
