<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ribbon cartridge for regenerating a thermal transfer ribbon in response to a using situation of a user, and a recycling method therefor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The ribbon cartridge 1 includes the cartridge body part 2 thermal transfer ribbon R, and is provided removably from a thermal transfer printer 20, and includes further a conversion means for enciphering/encoding at least a printing data such as a serial number of the thermal transfer printer, the total printing number of sheets, a set density and ribbon sensitivity, and a set value of the ribbon, and a detecting means 7 for detecting a ribbon end of the thermal transfer ribbon R, and the printing data enciphered/encoded by the conversion means and set value information of the ribbon are displayed in an end terminal part of the thermal transfer ribbon R in an inside of a cartridge body part 2, by heating, when detecting the ribbon end by the detecting means.
