PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a beta-zeolite which has so-called mesopores of pore diameters of 2-10 nm and an outer surface area of 280 m2/g or more, and a method for manufacturing a hydrogenolysis catalyst using the beta-zeolite. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a beta-zeolite includes a process for treating a raw material beta-zeolite in a water vapor atmosphere at 550-700°C and then acid-treating, and is characterized by the amount of an acid used for the acid-treatment which is 1-1.5 times of the amount of an acid required for stoichiometrically dissolving the whole of aluminum outside the skeleton of the raw material beta-zeolite.
