PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a release film capable of stably sealing foreign substances caused by an oligomer on a film surface, which is suitable for a substrate film composing an adhesive layer protecting release film used when producing a liquid crystal member such as polarizing panel, retardation plate, and suitable for several purpose substrate films used in producing LCD (liquid crystal display), PDP (plasma display panel), organic EL (electroluminescence), etc. SOLUTION: A polyester release film comprises a polyester film, an anchor layer and a release layer on the anchor layer, wherein the anchor layer which is formed by applying a coating liquid on one surface of the polyester film and dried; provided that the coating liquid contains an organic compound containing at least one metal element selected from aluminum, titanium and zirconium, an organic silicon compound and a catalyst; that the thickness of the anchor layer is 10-100 nm and that the surface roughness (Sa) of the anchor layer is 10 nm or less.
