A signal processing apparatus comprising a filter (2) which performs filter processing to convolve a first signal sequence x(t) with a tap coefficient to generate a second signal sequence y(t); a subtractor (3) which subtracts the second signal sequence from a third signal sequence m(t) including the echo of the first signal sequence x(t) to generate a fourth signal sequence e(t); and a correction unit (4) which corrects the tap coefficient according to a correction amount having the function G(e(t)) of the fourth signal sequence e(t) as a parameter. The signal processing apparatus is characterized in that the function G(e(t)) comprises at least one region among a first region and second region and in that the value of the function G(e(t)) is restricted by a limiter. With respect to a straight line F(e(t)) having a slope and intercept respectively corresponding to the slope and value of G(e(t)) when e(t) is 0, the first region is the region where e(t) is a value less than F(e(t)) at the negative range, and the second region is the region where the fourth signal sequence e(t) is a value larger than F(e(t)) at the positive range.
