<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a prism capable of enhancing quality and preventing reduction of yield to reduce a manufacturing cost. <P>SOLUTION: An optical element block 11B wherein a plurality of joining parts 13 are obliquely provided respectively at 45° to a plate surface is formed and the optical element block 11B is separated into individual prisms 1. In a separation step, a laser scribe forming procedure for performing proximal scribing to the joining part 13 of the optical element block 11B by irradiation with a laser beam in the plate thickness direction is performed and an impact force imparting procedure for imparting impact force to a part where a scribe 1 of the optical element block 11B is formed is performed.
