PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent video images from being not recorded by an erroneous operation. SOLUTION: A video camera includes: an image sensor for picking up an image of a subject; an operation section for accepting an instruction by a user; a still image storage section (S02) for storing an image output from the image sensor as a still image in response to the depression of a still image pickup button for picking up a still image; and a motion image storage section (S12 and S14) for storing a plurality of images continuously output from the image sensor as moving images during a period from acceptance of a video recording start instruction to acceptance of a video recording stop instruction for completing the recording of the moving image. Upon accepting the video recording stop instruction, the moving image storage section starts to store the plurality of images continuously output from the image sensor as moving images (S03).
