<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nano-carbon emitter excellent in electron emission capability and its uniformity and stability, a method for manufacturing a nano-carbon emitter at a simple process having high controllability, and a plane light-emitting element utilizing the nano-carbon emitter and having high luminance, high uniformity, and high reliability. <P>SOLUTION: The nano-carbon emitter includes a base body 2, a conductive layer 3 arranged on the base body 2, and a nano-carbon material complex 4 forming a nano-carbon material 6 directly, or via a metal or a metal compound on diamond fine particles 5.
