PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which reduces clogging with paper by automatically discriminating a paper ineligible for printing. SOLUTION: This printer includes: a printing processing section 50; first paths 71, 73 which convey paper housed in a paper-feed section to the printing processing section; a conveyance mechanism provided with a second path 72 which does not convey paper to the printing processing section; a read station 30 which reads the paper in a conveyance process as image data; and a control section 60 which detects ineligible elements in printing processing performed with the printing processing section 50 from the read image data and sends the paper to a path of either the first paths or the second path according to the detected ineligible elements.
