<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely position an image writing tool at an open/close door side with respect to an image carrier unit at a recorder body side. <P>SOLUTION: This image writing device includes the image writing tool 1, a support mechanism 2 that supports a portion 2b to be supported of the image writing tool 1 at a support 2a of the open/close door 13, and a positioning mechanism 3 that positions the image writing tool 1 to the image carrier unit 12 at the recorder body 11 side by engagement between a positioning portion 3a and a portion 3b to be positioned when the open/close door 13 is closed. Either of the support 2a and the portion 2b to be supported of the support mechanism 2 has a guide surface 6 extending in a direction intersecting with an opening/closing direction of the open/close door 13 and the other portion has a projection 7 that allows the image writing tool 1 to be relatively moved and swung along the guide surface 6 accompanied by the positioning of the image writing tool 1 by the positioning mechanism 3.
