PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distributed EL element having higher luminance and a longer life. SOLUTION: The distributed electroluminescent element has at least an insulating layer and a light-emitting layer between a pair of electrodes, namely, a back electrode and a transparent electrode. Dielectric particles contained in the insulating layer have an average particle size of 0.40-1.0μm, and the dielectric particles contained in the insulating layer have a volume rate of 30-60%. Fluorescent particles in the light-emitting layer have, preferably, an average particle size of 1μm or larger and smaller than 20μm and a particle size variation coefficient of 3% or greater and smaller than 40%. One of the layers of the distributed electroluminescent element may contain a red conversion material, or the light-emitting layer may contain fluorescent particles for emitting red light, separately from the fluorescent particles.
