PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image correction method and device, capable of specifying correctly an object (including a person) of a proper correction object, at reduced erroneous recognition probability, and capable of correcting a digital image data. SOLUTION: An object group serving as a correction value calculation reference is specified through an object classification step of scanning a skin color pixel from pixels constituting a skin color area in an object area, and of classifying the object area in every object constituted of the skin color pixel having a brightness of same level, an analysis-evaluation step of analyzing every classified object by a set parameter, and for evaluating it by imparting a point larger along with a degree of satisfaction of a condition for the parameter as the object group of the correction value calculation reference, a grouping step of grouping every classified object into a plurality of groups while classified with an average brightness of the skin color pixels, and a correction value calculation reference specifying step of specifying the group of which total value of the points in every classified object gets maximum, as the object group of the correction object.
