PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber cable such that connection operability and identifying accuracy associated with an optical fiber are good, desired force for extraction from a slot core is maintained, the cable is reducible in diameter, and operability of single-fiber dropping by intermediate post-branching is good. SOLUTION: The optical fiber cable 1 includes the slot core 3 having a slot groove 2 along the length, a sheath 6 which covers an outer periphery of the slot core 3 and is made thinner on the side of an opening 2a of the slit groove 2 than on the opposite side from the opening 2a of the slot groove 2, and a tension member 4 arranged in the slot core 3 along the length. In the slot groove 2, a ribbon 11A of coated optical fibers in a gathering state is stored which has a plurality of optical fibers, each having a single bare optical fiber, arranged in parallel along the width such that adjacent optical fibers are coupled intermittently at different positions in the width direction and length direction.
