PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dial for a timepiece which is excellent in the property of transmitting light (light transmitting property) and also can stably hold an external appearance having a dark color tone and a feel of high quality for a long period. SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing the dial 1 for the timepiece includes the masking process wherein an aluminum member 2 formed on a support member 3 and constituted mainly of Al is covered with a mask of a prescribed pattern, the oxidizing process wherein oxidation processing is applied to the aluminum member 2 covered with the mask, so as to form an oxide film 21 selectively in the vicinity of the surface of the portion of the aluminum member 2 not covered with the mask, the coloring process wherein the region of the aluminum member 2 provided with the oxide film 21 is colored with a colorant so as to form a dark-colored part, and the etching process wherein the region having no oxide film 21 formed in the oxidation processing is removed by etching to form an opening part 23.
