PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damping device capable of improving operation performance of a bearing device by efficiently reducing vibration in an axial direction in the bearing device. SOLUTION: A load applying means 23 is disposed in a housing 9 supporting an outer ring 7b of a roller bearing 7 so as to abut on a side face of the outer ring 7b of the roller bearing 7 supporting a rotary shaft 3, and the load applying means 23 applies a preload as a vibration load in the axial direction to carry out damping of the roller bearing 7.
