<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-traveling device for boring a lawn ground, capable of forming ventilation holes perpendicular to the lawn ground at predetermined positions set in advance and capable of being used in the lawn ground where a lawn protecting mat has been used. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The device for boring a lawn ground is equipped with a motor 20 for traveling a device body 10 having tines 42 boring the lawn ground by being thrusted into the lawn ground, an air cylinder 40 having an output shaft 401 advancing and retreating in approximately perpendicular direction toward the lawn ground and fixing the tines 42 at the tip end of the output shaft 401, and a controlling part 12 controlling the motor 20 and air cylinder 40 so as to stop once the traveling of the body 10 whenever the body 10 is traveled to a prescribed position, move the output shaft 401 of the air cylinder 40 as advancing and retreating and then travel the body 10 again.
