Provided is a vehicle door locking device (Ao), wherein a base unit (A2) equipped with a latch mechanism (A2a) is integrated with a housing unit (A1), which is equipped with an operating mechanism that operates the latch mechanism (A2a), by being assembled onto the housing unit. The metallic sub-base plate (27) of the base unit (A2) has an installation hole (27a) that is fitted onto a supporting shaft (11a) in the direction of the shaft, which is disposed upon the housing unit (A1) and extends in the length direction of the vehicle. The base unit (A2) is integrated with the housing unit (A1) by fitting the metallic sub-base plate (27) onto the supporting shaft (11a) at the installation hole (27a). A receiving part (27b) is disposed on the metallic sub-base plate (27), and the receiving part prohibits the movement, in the width direction (W direction) of the vehicle, of a child-proof lever (36) from behind.
