A method for preventing cracks from being formed in mould-manufactured ceramic products; the method comprises the steps for moulding a ceramic product; demoulding the ceramic product; identifying in the surface of the product at least an area of lower hardness and at least an area of higher hardness which are adjacent to each other; applying a surface modification treatment in the area of lower hardness so as to increase the hardness thereof upon achieving a balance or inverting the hardness of the higher hardness area; and drying, glazing and baking the ceramic product. The surface modification treatment is selected from a group consisting of application of laser beam, ions beam, heat, electric stream, inert gas at pressure and combinations thereof.
