PURPOSE: An optical unit, a backlight device, a liquid crystal module, and a liquid crystal display are provided to maximally suppress an increase of power consumption without increasing the number of light sources. CONSTITUTION: A diffusing unit(6) scatters light incident on a light path of a light source. The first light concentrating unit(7) has semi sphere or semi oval micro lens in a light emitting side. The diffusing unit includes a light diffusing unit, the first protruded prism, and the second protruded prism. Sections of the first protruded prisms are sawteeth. The vertex angle of the first protruded prism faces a light source direction. The vertex angle of the second protruded prism reversely faces the vertex angle of the first protruded prism.
